Our final prize, the Rod Stewart tickets and a one night stay at The Crown closes on Monday the 16th of November at 09:00. The current highest bid is £150.

Friday 13th November

The current highest bids for each of the prizes at 10:30 today is Rod Stewart £100, Spa Break £170, Race Break £120, Family Break £89 and Chef's Home Visit £150. There is still time to bid for all of these prizes - the Spa Break will close at 13:00 today, so if you have a higher bid than £170 please send us a Facebook private message before 13:00 today.


The Children In Need Auction - How to bid

The auction will commence at 09:00 on Wednesday the 11th of November for all five prizes. To make a bid send a private message to our Facebook page using the format shown below. We will post updates for each prize throught the period that the auction is open to indicate the current highest bid. Winning bidders will be contacted by telephone to confirm the prize and to arrange for payment to be collected by either a debit or credit card.

The prize codes and closing time for each prize is as follows;

Prize Two: Gold Spa Break for 2 people including one night accommodation in an Executive room with dinner & breakfast, lunch in Walton's Bar, 2 half hour treatments per person and full use of the leisure facilities (Estimated prize value £260 - suggested opening bid £90)

Prize Three: Carlisle Race Break for 2 people including one night accomodation with breakfast, full use of our leisure facilities, private car transport to and from the racecourse and 2 tickets to enjoy the races and dining experience in the comfort of Swifts Restaurant (Not valid for Premium meetings) (Estimated prize value £250 - suggested opening bid £90)

Prize Four: Family Break for 2 adults & 2 children for one night in our two bedroom Willow Cottage including breakfast and a Family Day pass for Walby Farm Park (Estimated prize value £200 - suggested opening bid £50)

Prize Five: A unique opportunity to have our Head Chef Paul Taylor & General Manager Paul Hicks cook & serve a three course meal for 2 people in the comfort of your own home. They will even do the washing up. (only available in Carlisle and a 5 mile radius of Wetheral) (Estimated prize value £250 - suggested opening bid £100)

Auction Terms & Conditions

The auction will commence on Wednesday 11th November at 09:00 for all prizes and will close on the dates & times quoted above with the prize code.

Bids are made via private message to our Facebook page. The hotel cannot be held responsible for any bid which does not reach our Facebook page prior to the auction closing due to technical or system functionality issues beyond our control.

Winning bidders will be contacted by telephone to confirm the winning bid and to collect payment via a credit or debit card.

All proceeds raised will be donated to Children In Need and no administration fees will be deducted.

Winning bidders agree to have their names published on our Facebook page and also agree for publicity pictures to be posted on our Facebook page when the winning prize is redeemed.

Restrictions apply to some of the prizes as detailed above. These restrictions will be confirmed to the winning bidder prior to payment for the winning bid being taken.

Wedding Fayre September 2015

Our Wedding Fayre on Sunday the 13th of September was a great success and offered the opportunity for brides to be and their partners to view our facilities and to meet our wedding suppliers. The hotel gardens looked great in the sunshine and showcased the hotel perfectly. If you missed the Wedding Fayre, don’t worry, we will be doing it again in February so keep checking our website and Facebook pages for further details.

Children In Need 2014

Pudsey has been to the Crown to find out what we are doing to raise funds for Children In Need and liked us so much that he wanted to do come and work for us. We put him through his paces on a Work Experience programme to find out where he could fit in... with varying degrees of success. You can check out how he got on in Pudsey’s Story Book.

Our feature event for Children In Need this year is a Bedroom Auction on the 14th of November which we are running through our Facebook page. We will be opening various lots at random times throughout the day for limited periods of time and are inviting bids for a selection of room types which successful bidders can use on a date of their choosing (subject to availability). We would ask potential bidders to log on to our Facebook page and like our page so that the notification of the auction start times will appear on their newsfeed. Bids will be placed by private message on Facebook and there is no charge to submit a bid – only successful bidders will be charged.

We will also have some other events running in conjunction with the auction including a quiz night and auction in Walton’s Bar, the Housekeeping staff are having a sponsored “dress up day”, there will be a Pudsey’s Choice on the menus on the day and the Leisure Club are doing a 99 Steps Challenge which Pudsey has declined to take part in as it seemed to be too much like hard work.

The Crown Hotel is awarded 4 Star Status

The 51 bedroom Crown Hotel is situated in the peaceful village of Wetheral with the AA Rosette Conservatory Restaurant, Waltons Bar and the Leisure Club and Beauty Rooms the Crown Hotel as flourished and has gone from strength to strength.

The Crown employs up to 80 members of staff and each one value the company and take pride in their role and this is shown through the professionalism and respect they have for the hotel and it’s guests and after today each member of staff will certainly be proud to be working at the Crown as it has just received it’s 4 star status.

AA Hotel Services have been recognising accommodation since 1908 and first introduced the star rating scheme in 1912, recognising and rewarding establishments for the quality and range of their services and facilities.

BBC Children In Need Bedroom Auction

The exciting part - How will the auction work?

The auction will take place on Friday the 14th of November. We will have ten auction lots available which will be released at random times throughout the day between 00:01 and 18:00. Each lot will be available for a limited time only.

The start time for each lot wil be announced on our Facebook page. If you already like our page this will appear on your timeline (subject to your personal account settings).

There will be a selection of room types available for auction. Each lot will have a minimum bid and will vary depending on the room type.

There is no charge to submit a bid. Bids are submitted via private message on our Facebook page. At the close of each lot we will send a private message to the succesful bidder in which we will ask the bidder to contact us with a credit or debit card number.

Succesful bidders will be sent a voucher to present when checking in to the hotel.


The boring part - Terms & conditions

The auction will only run on the 14th of November 2014.

Each auction lot will be for a specified room type for a duration of one night inclusive of breakfast.

From Lot 3 onwards if we receive joint highest bids the winning bidder will be deemed to be the bidder who submitted their bid the earliest in the auction.

Succesful bidders will be contacted on the day in order that we can confirm their bid and arrange for payment via a credit or debit card.

Succesful bidders can make a reservation for their winning bedroom on a date of their choosing (subject to availability). Extra nights can be purchased to extend the stay if required (subject to availability). Rates for additional nights will be confirmed at the time of booking.

Winning lots will expire on the 14th of November 2015. The winning lots cannot be used between the 22nd of December 2014 and the 02nd of January 2015, 13th -15th of February 2015, 02nd - 06th April 2015

Winning vouchers cannot be used as payment for existing reservations

No refunds are available for unused vouchers.
